Everton face Newcastle on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
Everton legend Neville Southall has claimed on Twitter that Newcastle United have “no chance” of beating the Toffees at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night.
The two sides meet in a Premier League clash in the north east in contrasting runs of form, with Everton winning three of their last four outings – the other result being a well-earned 1-1 draw against Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
However, Newcastle come into the game off the back of six defeats in their last seven games and have slipped into 16th place in the Premier League, just two points above the relegation zone.
Replying to a Newcastle fan on Twitter, Southall stated that there was “no chance” Newcastle would inflict Sam Allardyce’s first defeat as Everton manager since the former England boss took over at Goodison Park earlier this month.
BBC Sport claim defenders Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane are both fit to start, while Leighton Baines remains sidelined and Yannick Bolasie will not be risked as he continues his comeback from a long-term knee injury.
Merseyside outfit Everton will be buoyed by their recent history against the Toon, which has seen them win six of their last seven games against Rafa Benitez’s side. Last time out, Everton ran out 3-0 winners in February 2016 thanks to goals from Aaron Lennon and a brace from Ross Barkley.
