Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is now ready to discuss a new contract at Etihad Stadium amid interest in Saudi Arabia in a transfer, HITC Football understands.

The 32-year-old is attracting ongoing links for a move to the Saudi Pro League as his current terms expire in 2025. Manchester City last extended De Bruyne’s deal in April 2021. But the club are now planning to hold talks with the Belgian about his future in the coming months.

Sources have confirmed to HITC Football that Manchester City want to speak to De Bruyne about a new contract. And the Citizens’ captain has boosted their hopes about agreeing to extend as he is also ready to begin talks. De Bruyne has been at Etihad Stadium since 2015.

Kevin De Bruyne ready to speak with Manchester City about a new contract

De Bruyne is open to discussing a new contract with Manchester City as he has shown little desire to seal a transfer to the Saudi Pro League. But HITC Football understands that a move to America to play in Major League Soccer does appeal to the 99-cap Belgium international.

A chance to play in MLS at some stage of his career does appeal to De Bruyne, after a career spent exclusively in Europe. Yet it remains to be seen when, or even if, he is prepared to quit European football. He has to date only pulled the strings in Belgium, England and Germany.

Manchester City also want to tie Ederson down with new terms by August

Additionally, HITC Football also reported earlier in the week that Manchester City intend to speak with Ederson about a new contract. Etihad Stadium chiefs further want to lock their Brazil goalkeeper down with fresh terms by August. The 30-year-old’s deal expires in 2026.

Manchester City are determined to keep two of their most integral players in Ederson and De Bruyne. The 30-year-old shot-stopper has started 24 of their 25 Premier League games this term. De Bruyne, who Pep Guardiola calls ‘remarkable’, has only featured in six due to injury.
