- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Real Madrid watched Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes in action against Manchester City in the FA Cup this weekend, HITC understands.
Newcastle United suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Premier League rivals Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday.
Bernardo Silva scored both goals for Pep Guardiola’s side, first in the 13th minute and then on 31 minutes.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe included Bruno Guimaraes in the starting lineup. The Brazil international was deployed in the centre of a three-man midfield in a 5-3-2 formation.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain watch Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes vs Manchester City
HITC understands Real Madrid watched Bruno in the match against City, and so did Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid will take on defending Premier League champions City in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League this season, and no doubt Los Blancos took the chance to check on them against Newcastle.
However, sources have confirmed to HITC that the primary focus for both Madrid and PSG was understood to continue monitoring Newcastle and Brazil international midfielder Bruno, who is of interest to Chelsea as well.
Bruno Guimaraes frustrated
HITC understands that Bruno, who has a release clause in his contract, is growing increasingly frustrated with Newcastle’s season.
The midfielder is one of the best players in the team and was described as a player who has “unbelievable qualities” and “can produce moments of magic” by Howe.
Newcastle finished in the top four of the Premier League last season and featured in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League this campaign.
However, the Magpies are not having a good season. They are as low as 10th in the Premier League table with 40 points from 28 games and are as many as 16 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
Bruno has scored three goals and given five assists in 27 Premier League matches for Newcastle this season.
HITC can also reveal that during the FA Cup tie at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, PSG were looking at long-term target Bernardo Silva, who remains of interest to the French giants.
PSG were also keeping a close eye on Bruno’s Newcastle teammate Alexander Isak. The 24-year-old Sweden international has proven himself as a top-line forward since arriving at St James’ Park in 2022. But, just like with Bruno, he is concerned by the club’s form this season.
