Bayern Munich have no interest in selling Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to Manchester United during the January transfer window, HITC Football understands.

Sources have told HITC Football that Manchester United have been doing work on potential options for this month and the Cameroonian veteran is someone they appreciate.

Added to that, the former Stoke City man would be open to the idea of a move to Old Trafford.

However, Manchester United have not opened talks and sources have told HITC that they would not advance as the German club do not want to sell.

Bayern Munich have a fight on their hands this season as highly-flying Bayer Leverkusen sit top of the Bundesliga with a seven-point lead.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is seen as an important squad member, and although he has started just three league games this season, he has appeared in 16 games for Thomas Tuchel – who has also made it clear to his bosses that he does not want him to be sold.

There will be some fans who will feel that not signing Choupo-Moting is a blessing in disguise for the English club.

Yes, the five-time league winner in Germany and France, has bundles of experience and can play various roles.

But, you have to question if he is going to be the answer to their problems because Man United have been here before with the likes of Wout Weghorst and Odion Ighalo.

Manchester United’s forward line

One positive for those at Old Trafford is that Rasmus Hojlund is starting to showcase some quality on the Premier League stage after scoring in back-to-back league games.

But the fact of the matter is that he only has two league goals this term, whilst Marcus Rashford has only netted four times.

That simply can’t continue moving forward, especially if they want to secure a Champions League spot.

Manchester United are currently sitting eighth in the table – 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
