Real Madrid are tracking Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies ahead of making a potential move in the summer, while facing competition from Liverpool and Manchester City, HITC understands.

HITC sources have confirmed that one of Real Madrid’s long-term plans was to bring in Alphonso Davies on their left, and they have been tracking him for a couple of years.

Since moving to Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps, the left-back has been a revelation for the German giants with his pace and defensive awareness making him a superb asset for the Bavarian side.

His stand-out performances have led to the Spanish giants being interested in the Canadian star and a move in the summer could now be a possibility.

Bayern Munich’s position

Sources have confirmed to HITC that Bayern are aware of Real Madrid’s interest in the defender and the Bundesliga club are doing all they can to convince him that remaining in Germany would be best for him and his career.

The German side have been attempting to talk to Davies about a renewal for the past 12 months but, as of yet, there has been no breakthrough in these talks.

Davies’s current deal is due to expire in 2025 and that means if new terms are not in place by this summer, they would sell the left-back as they have no intention of losing him for nothing next year.

The 23-year-old is currently sidelined after suffering a ligament strain in his left knee after Bayern’s 3-1 home win against Borussia Monchengladbach.

English interest

It is not just Madrid who are understood to be keen on the Canadian defender, sources have confirmed to HITC that Manchester City and Liverpool have been asked to keep abreast of the situation. Chelsea have also enquired.

City may well be looking for a new left-back despite Josko Gvardiol’s time there, whilst Andy Robertson for Liverpool may well need to be replaced soon due to the injury problems he has had.

However, despite the Premier League club’s interest, these two sides believe that the player’s current preference is for a move to the Spanish capital.
