Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is attracting real interest but is not expected to leave the club in this month’s transfer window.

Thiago Alcantara remains keen on finishing the current season with Liverpool, sources have told HITC Football.

Thiago’s current deal expires in the summer, which means he is allowed to talk to other clubs and there has been interest in the 32-year-old.

Brazilian giants Flamengo have spoken to his representatives, as have Saudi Pro League representatives and both would be keen on a deal to sign him this month.

His former club Barcelona remain admirers whilst it is also understood big spending MLS side Inter Miami are looking at adding him to their squad that is already laden with former Barca stars.

However, Thiago and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp are not understood to be pushing for a January move.

Thiago’s entire spell at Anfield has been beset with injuries; since arriving in 2020 he has been available for little over half of their games.

Thiago is currently closing on a return from hip surgery last year and Liverpool believe he will be playing in February – which is one reason they are happy for him to stay; HITC Football has been told that Klopp feels Thiago could play a big role in the end-of-season run-in.

Liverpool hoping for final flurry from Thiago

Liverpool struck a deal worth up to £25million for Thiago back in 2020, luring him away from Bayern Munich.

Klopp had mostly focused on real energy in his midfield but Thiago felt like a real change, almost a Manchester City-like signing in terms of his style of play from his Barcelona upbringing.

A decorated midfielder for Bayern and Spain, Thiago has enjoyed some great moments at Liverpool but the injuries have stacked up.

No appearances this season and just 18 league appearances last term highlight that Thiago just isn’t able to make the impact he once did and his time at Liverpool is coming to an end.

Thiago’s technical brilliance is clear for all to see and there could still be some memorable moments to come from him before the end of the season.

A new contract doesn’t look likely though and it looks like he won’t be short of suitors in the summer as Liverpool seemingly hope to get a final flurry out of the Spaniard with a title race on the horizon.
