HITC Football understands that Ajax have informed striker Carlos Forbs that he can leave the club this January transfer window.

Sources have confirmed to HITC Football that multiple Premier League clubs are interested in bringing the Portuguese international to the club with less than a week remaining before the window slams shut.

Carlos Forbs – formerly known as Carlos Borges – joined Ajax from Manchester City back in the summer for around £10 million as he impressed for the Citizens’ academy squad and Pep Guardiola’s side decided to sell.

The 19-year-old has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Ajax, chipping in two goals and four assists but the Dutch side now seem keen on moving the forward on.

HITC sources have confirmed that Forbs is unsure about leaving the Dutch capital, but he has been told that he can move but will have to get a move on if he is to leave Ajax.

Burnley and Nottingham Forest have both held talks about a deal, whilst HITC also understands Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton and West Ham United are keeping tabs on the situation of the 19-year-old.

Everton and Forest are currently battling relegation as well as Financial Fair Play issues and the signing of the promising forward could well be key for either of these sides remaining in the division.

Forbs race

The Portugal under-21 international can play on both flanks but is most often fielded on the right wing. Any deal to take the forward out of the Netherlands would be a loan.

Burnley, under Vincent Kompany, are also in relegation trouble and a new exciting striker, one that Kompany may well be familiar with due to his links with City, could be key for them.

With just 21 goals scored, Kompany’s side have the second-worst return in the Premier League so far this season with only Sheffield United below them, and could well do with an injection of goals from somewhere.

Either way, there looks to be a race to sign the promising Portuguese forward.
