Aston Villa and West Ham United are among a clutch of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Norwich City talent Jon Rowe in view of a transfer, HITC Football understands.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a scintillating season so far at Carrow Road to help to put David Wagner’s Championship club in promotion contention. Norwich are eighth in the table after Rowe inspired a 2-1 win at Hull City this Friday. He broke the deadlock with a clever attempt.

Rowe registered his 11th goal of the second-tier season in the 36th minute from the edge of the Tigers’ box. He stole possession in the centre circle before driving forward and evading a couple of challenges and sending a shot with the outside of his boot into the bottom corner.

Sources have also now confirmed to HITC Football that Aston Villa, Brentford, West Ham and Wolves have each been keeping close tabs on Rowe’s performances for Norwich. Along with his 11 goals in 25 Championship appearances, the forward has also laid on two assists so far.

The Canaries’ academy product also scored once and created one goal across two Carabao Cup ties. He has 12 goals and three assists in 28 games across all competitions. But sources tell HITC Football that bids for Rowe’s transfer in this January window are currently unlikely.

Rowe’s Premier League suitors are, therefore, keeping close tabs on his situation in view of the summer sales. The recently-capped England Under-21 winger is only under contract at Carrow Road until June 2025. He made his Young Lions debut last October and also scored.

Norwich have not extended Rowe’s contract since January 2022 and may now have to fend off transfer interest from Aston Villa, West Ham and a clutch of Premier League outfits. But Canaries boss Wagner is not worried about the prospect of a transfer in the January sales.

“I have no concern that there is any problems,” Wagner told Sky Sports about the possibility of Rowe leaving Norwich in January. “If you consider he’s quite young and he made his first senior start at the beginning of the season, it makes it more interesting.”
