- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Reece James is not interested in leaving Chelsea this summer.
Sources close to the player have told HITC that he is focused on returning to fitness before the end of the season and making England’s Euro 2024 squad.
Reece James has had another injury-hit campaign and has only played 390 minutes of Premier League football, after only playing 16 league games during the previous season.
Reece James and Profit and Sustainability rules
The 24-year-old has been linked with a possible departure as Chelsea assess whether they need to raise funds to meet Profit and Sustainability rules.
However, sources have told HITC that one of the world’s best right-backs is not thinking about leaving and Chelsea also insists that they are not looking to sell.
The England international is contracted to Chelsea until 2028 and has been watched closely by Real Madrid in recent seasons and he remains on their radar – but as it stands, he is not on their agenda for this summer.

Conor Gallagher’s future at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea sources have also indicated that the club are waiting to see, if and when a new financial system in the Premier League is adopted as if the new rules – based on revenue ratio similar to UEFA’s Financial Sustainability Regulations (FSR) – are brought in this summer, that could impact on their decisions going forward.
As it stands, Chelsea do look set to sell some players – including homegrown star Conor Gallagher – who is yet to receive a contract offer from the club.
Like James, he has come through the ranks and has become a regular member of Mauricio Pochettino’s playing squad.
Gallagher, who is expected to be part of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad in the summer, has also spent several loan spells away from Chelsea, including most recently at Crystal Palace.
