Graeme Souness has suggested Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu as a potential transfer for Tottenham Hotspur, as well as his teammate Ricardo Pereira and Angelino, currently on loan at RB Leipzig from Manchester City, as quoted in The Times.

The Liverpool legend, who could not break into the Tottenham first team when he started his career, made the comments while analysing the defence of Tottenham (and Manchester United).

The Sky Sports pundit believes that Spurs and United will be looking to improve defensively next season, and has named three potential transfer targets.

Souness wrote in The Times: “Mourinho, Solskjaer and the rest of Liverpool’s challengers will all be looking to improve at the back next season until they find a settled back five like Jurgen Klopp has at Anfield.

“In terms of potential solutions, I like Caglar Soyuncu at Leicester City very much. The 24-year-old Turkey centre back is strong, quick and good on the ball but crucially also takes defending seriously.

“It’s not all about passing it out from the back and how he looks on the ball for him. He’s the standout signing for me this summer, the centre half they will all be after.

“I also like Leicester’s right back, Ricardo Pereira, he’s got the right qualities for the modern game and Angelino, the left back who’s on loan from Manchester City at RB Leipzig, has impressed me.

“The only thing Pep Guardiola can’t be completely convinced by is his defending because going forward he’s as good as anyone out there.”

Tottenham Hotspur transfer this summer?

Soyuncu is a very good central defender who has done well for Leicester this season.

The Foxes could end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season, and the 24-year-old Turkey international may not want to switch clubs this summer.

It could be the same for Pereira, who may not want to move to Spurs, especially if the North London outfit are unable to qualify for the Champions League.

As for Angelino, he is only 23 years of age, and City manager Pep Guardiola could well decide to keep him at the club and work with him next season when he is back from his loan spell at Leipzig.
