Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose featured for England against Scotland in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Friday.

Former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has written in The Times that Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose throws himself to the ground too often.

Souness made the comment following England’s win against Scotland at the Wembley Stadium in London on Friday evening.

The Three Lions got the better of Scotland 3-0 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification UEFA Group F game.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge put England in the lead in the 24th minute, and his club teammate Adam Lallana added a second on 50 minutes.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill wrapped up the points for Gareth Southgate’s side just past the hour mark.

Tottenham left-back Rose started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and so did his Spurs teammate and right-back Kyle Walker.

“Rose has a tendency to throw himself to the ground too often — he was doing that again on Friday night — but they are both rapid, have high energy and are at their strongest when attacking,” former Scotland international midfielder Souness wrote in The Times.

“They suit the way the game is played today and that makes for exciting football, both for England and Tottenham.”

Souness seems to rate Walker and Rose highly, despite his comment about the latter throwing himself to the ground too often.

The Tottenham full-backs are two of the best in their positions in the world, but as with all players, there are certain weaknesses.

Spurs are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 21 points from 11 matches.
