Graeme Souness has written in The Daily Mail that Graham Potter’s Chelsea should have signed Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, a player Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were linked with in the January transfer window.
Souness has said that he is surprised that Chelsea did not make a move for Brighton and Argentina international midfielder Mac Allister.
The Liverpool legend made the comments about the 24-year-old while discussing Chelsea signing Enzo Fernandez.
Chelsea were actually linked with Mac Allister in the January transfer window, and so were Souness’s former club Liverpool.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica claimed that Liverpool wanted to sign Mac Allister from Premier League rivals Brighton in the January transfer window.
The report stated that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were also monitoring the 24-year-old, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina.

Chelsea were linked with Mac Allister as well last month.
TuttoMercatoWeb reported that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners made a bid for the midfielder, but Brighton turned it down.
Graeme Souness on Chelsea and Liverpool-linked Alexis Mac Allister
Souness wrote: “When it comes to Fernandez, Chelsea have paid a premium on top of a premium on top of a premium. A premium because it is the Premier League calling. A premium because it is Chelsea. A premium because they want this player now.
“Compare Alexis Mac Allister, his Argentina team-mate, who has played 80 games in the Premier League for Brighton and has far fewer question marks against his name.
“Good age. Good experience. Good numbers of goals and assists. A proven Premier League player. I’m surprised that money hasn’t gone on him.”
