Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Jurgen Klopp’s comments on Gini Wijnaldum.

The Reds will host Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday, with 10,000 Liverpool supporters set to watch their Champions League-chasing showdown.

Ahead of the match, Klopp told his pre-match press conference that Wijnaldum is a ‘sensational’ guy and he is someone who is ‘committed to the club and the team until the last day’.

Wijnaldum’s contract is up with Liverpool in the summer and there isn’t any suggestion that he will stay on, even though there hasn’t been any confirmation from the club or the player himself.

Liverpool fans have issued a mixed response to Klopp’s comments, with some expressing their gratitude towards what Wijnaldum has done for the club and others claiming that he hasn’t been as committed this season given the speculation.

Either way, no one expects him to surprise those in Red by staying on beyond this season.

From winning the Premier League title to being a hero against Barcelona on route to their Champions League triumph, the £25 million man (BBC Sport) has been an underrated figure during his five years at the club.

If Wijnaldum does leave Liverpool, it will be interesting to see what his next destination will be because he still has plenty to offer.

And whilst Anfield won’t be packed out on Sunday for obvious reasons, if it is to be a final goodbye for Wijnaldum, then at least there will be some fans there to wave him off.

The Liverpool Echo have even suggested the Dutchman could captain the side, which would be something given that he’s heading for the exit door.
