While Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe is the man of the moment after scoring his first goal for the club in the weekend victory against Aston Villa, his teammate Souleymane Doukara can reflect on a job well done after his superb cross led to the opening strike.
Doukara is not everyone’s cup of tea at Elland Road, yet it is fair to say he has won over the majority of the club’s fans after excelling under the tutelage of new manager Garry Monk.
This season Doukara has featured 11 times for Leeds, scoring two goals and providing two assists prior to Saturday.
However, the confidence he showed in taking it to his opponent before sending in a sumptuous cross that Roofe gratefully gobbled up was the moment of magic that could define his Leeds career.
That was no mishit shot or lucky cross; Doukara knew exactly what he was doing and it seems the confidence instilled by Monk is paying off big time.
The 25-year-old will still have his doubters. However with a goal against Rotherham United and a sublime assist just a week later against Villa, Doukara is fully justifying his place in the Leeds squad and his future looks considerably brighter than it did a few short months ago.
