Going by goals, a reported Leeds United target could be a marked downgrade on a player they released two years ago.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed this week that Leeds United could be interested in Michael Frey.
The Swiss striker joined Fenerbahce in a £2.4 million deal from FC Zurich last summer [Transfermarkt], but has since struggled in Turkey’s top flight.
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani hinted this week that there wouldn’t be an abundance of money available for players, after stating that he expected a ‘difficult’ transfer window.
And that’s even more reason to sidestep somebody like Frey because, based on his goal return, he wouldn’t be worth whatever the Turkish side want for him.
The 24-year-old, yet to be capped by his country, only managed to score twice in 14 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig.
To put this into perspective, Souleymane Doukara, who had the final year of his Leeds contract terminated in 2017 before leaving for free, has netted 11 from 25 games in the same division.
Doukara isn’t a bad player, but he wasn’t the quality that the Whites needed and yet he looks a lot better than he is when compared to Frey, whom United reportedly want.
Frey might bring more to the table than just goals, but that’s the only metric by which centre-forwards are measured and if he doesn’t score enough in Turkey, he won’t in the Championship. Doukara’s success with Antalyaspor proves as much.
