Graeme Souness has said on talkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur are now looking like a real deal under head coach Antonio Conte, a claim he knows former Arsenal star Ray Parlour and the Emirates Stadium faithful will not like.

Liverpool legend Souness started his professional club football career at Tottenham, and he believes that under former Chelsea manager Conte, the North London club are not ‘Spursy’ anymore.

The talkSPORT pundit made the comments while discussing Tottenham and their chances of competing for the Premier League title with Liverpool and Manchester City this season with former Arsenal star Ray Parlour and ex-Spurs forward Alan Brazil.

Arsenal fans will certainly not like Souness saying that Tottenham have changed for the better.

Graeme Souness on Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur

Souness said on talkSPORT: “I think he (Conte) will do really well at Tottenham, if he gets the support, if he is allowed more of a say in who comes and who goes.

“He has made good signings, and I think it’s going to be, Ray, I am sorry to say this, I will say it, I don’t think they are Spursy anymore under this guy. I think they will be more like the real deal.”

Top-four battle

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will fight for the UEFA Champions League places in the Premier League table this season.

Just like they did last season.

Tottenham pipped bitter North London rivals Arsenal to the final Champions League place last season.

The Gunners have made some brilliant signings this summer, including striker Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Tottenham have brought in Ivan Persic among others this summer.

Now, we know that Liverpool and Manchester City are the two strongest teams in the Premier League, but Arsenal and Tottenham will be keen on closing the gap between themselves and the Reds and the Citizens.
