‘Sorry’: Thierry Henry couldn’t help but send Tottenham message involving Palace

On Monday night, Crystal Palace recorded a 1-1 draw against their bitter rivals Brighton, but Theirry Henry made it clear that Patrick Vieira has already ‘won the other’ derby game.

The Highbury legend was making reference to Palace beating Tottenham this month and shared that he is ‘sorry’ that he had to mention it, as he told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.

On paper, Palace v Spurs is a London derby, but they aren’t rivals like the North London one or Palace v Brighton.

At the end of the day, with six London teams in the Premier League, then there are going to be derbies galore this season, but not all of them are fiercely contested as others.

But given that Vieira is an Arsenal legend, Henry couldn’t help but mention his 3-0 win against Spurs, as he shared what type of coach the former hard-hitting midfielder is.

“Patrick has done really well,” said Henry. “Personally, what he did in Nice was really difficult.

“Not knowing who the owner was going to be. Not being able to spend. Having to deal with Balotelli. We all know that’s not an easy one to do, so he had it all.

“He went to coach in the MLS and in the youth academy, then for the first time, he gets the opportunity to showcase in the Premier League.

“I know how he thinks. I know how he wants his teams to play. It’s pretty refreshing, I am sure, for the players at Palace and he is a competitor and a winner.

“He won the other one (the derby. You know what I mean, like against Tottenham, sorry.”

Spurs have suffered three London derby defeats on the bounce, so they will be glad that they are facing-off against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The problem there is that they are going to take on a team that has won back-to-back matches, including beating Manchester United at Old Trafford.

But before all that, they have a Europa Conference League match to deal with on Thursday evening.

Spurs host Mura and they will be hoping the Slovenian side haven’t channelled their inner-Sheriff Tiraspol, who produced one of the shocks of Europe last night by beating Real Madrid in the Champions League.
