Emmanuel Frimpong has criticised the substitutions by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta last night.
Arteta’s side lost 2-1 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Gunners finished the game with nine men after losing David Luiz at the end of the first half and goalkeeper Bernd Leno on 72 minutes, after Joao Moutinho had already fired the hosts ahead, that is.
Arsenal were drawing 1-1 at the end of the first half following Ruben Neves’s penalty, after Luiz was penalised for fouling Willian Jose inside the box.
During the break, the Spanish coach replaced striker Alexandre Lacazette with Gabriel Magalhaes for the second half.
And former Arsenal midfielder Frimpong has criticised the decision to take off the French hitman on Twitter.
It was a difficult decision for Arteta but did he get it right? Probably not, if we’re honest.
Yes, Arsenal needed another centre-back on the pitch but without a proper number nine out there, there wasn’t much of an out ball for the North Londoners to play throughout the second 45 minutes.
Not only that, but the former Lyon man has probably been the team’s best attacking player in 2021 and without him, there wasn’t much hope.
