Speaking on Manchester City’s YouTube channel, Bernardo Silva has been crafting a dream Premier League XI made up of Portuguese players past and present.

Portugal has provided the Premier League with some absolutely amazing players over the years, from Cristiano Ronaldo to Ruben Dias.

One area where there has been a few talented Portuguese players is at right-back, with the likes of Nelson Semedo, Ricardo Perreira and Cedric Soares currently plying their trade in the Premier League.

However, Silva opted to pick Chelsea legend Paulo Ferreira at right-back, stating that he very nearly chose Arsenal’s Cedric or Wolves’ Semedo in that spot.

What’s been said?

Silva overlooked Cedric in his Premier League dream XI.

“Then at right-back I think I’m going with Paulo Ferreira. I could go with Cedric or Semedo right now, but Ferreira was here for a long time and won a lot of things, so sorry to the other guys,” Silva said.

Right choice

While Cedric came close to getting into Silva’s team, even the most hardened Arsenal supporter would have to admit that Ferreira has a stronger case to make.

The defender was a part of three title-winning Chelsea teams, while he’s also a two-time Champions League winner.

In our view, Cedric isn’t actually Ferreira’s closest challenger for this spot. Jose Bosingwa was an excellent servant for Chelsea for a number of years, and he probably deserves greater recognition in Silva’s team.
