The Magpies academy ace was named Player of the Tournament at the HKFC Soccer Sevens in Hong Kong.

Newcastle United have posted a Twitter message to academy ace Elias Sorensen following the forward’s impressive showing at the HKFC Soccer Sevens in Hong Kong.
The Magpies won the Main Cup for the third time in their history – after 2012 and 2018 – by running out 4-3 winners over Rangers in the final.
After coming through the group stages, Newcastle went on to win three matches in one day, reaching the final with wins over Portuguese side Portimonense and local outfit Kitchee.
The Tyneside outfit went two goals down against the Ibrox outfit thanks to Andrew Dallas’s brace but goals from Owen Bailey and Luke Charman drew the Magpies level.
A Sorensen penalty put Newcastle in front and, though Josh McPake’s equaliser forced extra time, the Magpies triumphed thanks to Bailey’s winner, which came after he went in goal.
The Dane has enjoyed a mixed season, scoring 19 goals for the club’s U23s before the turn of the new year (Chronicle Live), which helped him secure a stint on loan at League One side Blackpool.
During two months at the Lancashire club, however, Sorensen played just 32 minutes of first-team football and was not even in the matchday squads in the latter stages (Transfemarkt), leading to an early recall.
Here is what the Magpies tweeted to Sorensen:
Some of the Toon Army hoped Sorensen’s exploits throughout the course of the season and off-season could lead to a first-team run:
