Newcastle United are linked with Marcelo Brozovic.
The Times reported last week that the Inter Milan midfielder is on Newcastle’s radar.
Better yet, Brozovic wouldn’t cost the Magpies a penny because as things stand, he is out of contract next summer.
But the San Siro club’s hierarchy will be absolutely desperate to tie him down to new terms.
Brozovic was arguably Inter’s best player last night as the Serie A champions beat Shakhtar 2-0 in the Champions League.
The reported Newcastle target clocked a passing success of 92 percent [WhoScored] and was generally so intelligent in how he conducted himself.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to his performance on Wednesday:
Are Newcastle signing Brozovic?
Well the problem Newcastle have is that….they’re Newcastle.
United are a massive club and probably one that has drastically under-performed down the years.
But this season, Eddie Howe’s side are genuine relegation candidates and Brozovic isn’t going to be beating down his agent’s door, telling him to book a flight to Tyneside.
Truth is, the Croatia international is going to have far more attractive suitors than the Magpies, teams ready to do bigger things than avoid relegation.
And for that reason, it seems very unlikely that the St James’s Park club stand a chance.
