West Ham United should seriously consider a move for the Sunderland ace this summer.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic will be looking to strengthen his midfield options this summer, especially after Havard Nordtveit’s recent departure, as he looks to build a squad capable of being competitive on all fronts during this upcoming season.
With this in mind, the Croatian should make a move for Sunderland’s soon-to-be free agent Jan Kirchhoff, who has been strongly linked with various Premier League and Bundesliga clubs, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Standing at 6ft 5in, the towering former Bayern Munich man would be a superb addition to the West Ham side, what with his ability to play in either the centre-back or deep-lying midfield positions.
The 26-year-old is tenacious in the manner he goes about his business, yet he oozes class when in possession of the football.
He would be the ideal signing for Bilic, as he looks to add more steel to his technically proficient, yet sometimes lightweight, group of midfielders.
With Mark Noble seemingly on the decline, and Pedro Obiang’s future uncertain to say the least, bringing another midfielder of genuine quality to the London Stadium will be of paramount importance to the Hammers’ hopes of enjoying a successful 2017/18 campaign.

Kirchhoff is a hugely inspirational figure, and leads by example both vocally and with his performances. These kind of leadership skills could prove to be really important for West Ham, after they were seriously bereft of that particular quality last term.
And if Bilic manages to bring the German to the London Stadium this summer, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Hammers.
