Fabrizio Romano has reported that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will “soon” make a new bid for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.

The Italian journalist has claimed on Twitter that Arsenal will “soon” make a second offer of €40 million (£34.39 million) to Ajax to secure the services of Jurrien Timber in the summer transfer window.

Romano has added that the 22-year-old, who can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back, himself is keen on a switch to the Gunners and believes that Arsenal are the perfect project for him.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is personally having a big influence on this particular potential transfer deal, according to the journalist.

Arsenal now looking likely to sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax

In our opinion, Arsenal are now likely to be able to sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

Now, of course, Dutch club Ajax will want to get as much money as they can for the 22-year-old, but that the Netherlands international himself is keen on a move to Arsenal and the Gunners are about to make a second bid show that there is a real determination to get a deal done.

Ajax themselves are willing to sell Timber, and we believe that it is only a matter of time before a deal gets done.
