Alex Bruce joined those following the official Newcastle United account on Monday.

The son of a reported Newcastle United manager target has started following one of the club’s social media accounts.
Steve Bruce, the current Sheffield Wednesday boss, was one of those said to be under consideration for Rafa Benitez’s old job, according to the Telegraph.
Talk of a move to his boyhood club has since died down, however, while Bruce himself appeared to laugh off the rumour when asked to comment by the BBC last weekend.
But after his son, Alex, who was on Kilmarnock’s books last season, joined those following the official Newcastle Instagram account on Monday, those initial whispers may be about to resurface.
Newcastle appear to have made little progress in their pursuit of Benitez’s successor, and it is plausible that frustration could have led them back to Bruce.
It’s certainly interesting that the younger Bruce – who was born in Norwich and has no direct link to the Magpies – follows just two other clubs on the social media site, Kilmarnock and his dad’s most notable former employers, Manchester United.

Bruce Jnr’s activity could, of course, be completely innocent – and that is perhaps the most likely explanation right now.
