Tottenham Hotspur will take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
The draw for the knockout stages of the Champions League took place earlier today, and Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn against Borussia Dortmund in a mouthwatering tie.
After taking just one point from their first three Champions League games this season, Spurs gave themselves a mountain to climb, but climb it they did.
Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Barcelona sent Spurs through to the last 16, completing a stunning recovery – and now Spurs must take on Dortmund in the next round.
Lucien Favre’s side sit nine points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table, and are in such a strong position to break Bayern Munich’s stronghold on German football once again.
It’s a daunting task for Spurs, but one man who should be ecstatic with the draw is Tottenham forward Son Heung-min, whose record against Dortmund is simply staggering.
Son has been in good enough form lately with three goals and two assists in his last 10 games, but in 10 games against Dortmund, he has scored a frankly absurd eight goals.
Players often have clubs they love to score against, and Son’s appears to be Dortmund, stretching back to his time in German football with Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen.
To advance past Dortmund and into the next round, Spurs will need Son to bring that form again, and Dortmund really won’t be keen on facing the South Korean star yet again.
