Alan Shearer has raved about Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One following his performance against Aston Villa at the weekend.

Son was involved in both of Tottenham’s goals in their 2-1 win against Villa at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League.

Newcastle United legend Shearer was impressed by the 29-year-old South Korea international forward.

The BBC pundit believes that Son is a complete player and has outlined his attributes.

Shearer said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One, as transcribed by The Boot Room: “When he plays like that, there’s not many defenders that can live with him, he’s got everything you need. Pace, energy.

“Drive to get in there, goals, assists. I’m such a huge fan of his, they couldn’t cope with him – he was the difference, you can’t stop him. Fantastic player.”

Getting into form

Like Harry Kane, Son did not start the season strongly, but the South Korean is starting to show some form now.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star came on as a substitute in the Europa Conference League last week and provided an assist.

Then at the weekend, Son played well for Spurs and was arguably the North London club’s best player against Villa.

Nuno’s side are aiming to finish in the Premier League top four this season.

To achieve that quest, Son will have to be on top form and repeat his heroics of last season.

The Tottenham no. 7 scored 17 goals and gave 10 assists in the Premier League last season.

So far this season, Son has scored three goals and given one assist in the league.
