Son Heung-min is playing well for Tottenham Hotspur at the moment.
Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min has suggested to The Mirror that he could have left the club in the summer transfer window.
Son joined Tottenham from German club Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015.
According to a report in The Daily Mail at the time, the Premier League outfit had to pay Bayer a transfer fee of £21.9 million in order to secure the services of the South Korea international winger.
The 24-year-old did not have a great 2015-16 campaign for Tottenham and was able to score only four goals and create 18 chances in 28 Premier League appearances.
Son has started the 2016-17 season brilliantly and has scored four goals and created 10 chances in three league matches already.
The former Hamburger SV winger has suggested that he spoke to Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino in the summer about his future.
Son has also stated that he is happy that he remained at Tottenham for the 2016-17 season.
“It was good to talk to the manager, and I am very happy now,” Son told The Mirror. “All I wanted to do is play in the Premier League because I like playing for Tottenham and I like scoring goals.
“It’s difficult to say now if I thought I would come back after the Olympics. I don’t know how to answer that, because I am staying here now and I am very happy.
“It is true I went to see the gaffer because I wanted to ask him to play more – I am a footballer and every player wants to play games. He was very honest with me, very truthful, and I am very grateful to him.”
Son is a very good player, and he has shown this season what he is capable of.
What the South Korea international needed was a bit of faith and an extended run of games.
Given the recent performances of the 24-year-old, it is hard to see Pochettino dropping him anytime soon.
