Spurs thumped the Black Cats but only emerged with a 1-0 win.

Son Heung-min has revealed to Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that “keep calm” was the message shared midway through their 1-0 win over Sunderland on Sunday.

Tottenham endured a frustrating first half at White Hart Lane on the weekend, in which Mauricio Pochettino’s side dominated but could not find a reward for their dominance.

Jordan Pickford, in particular, looked to have a fine game between the sticks for Sunderland, and there was a fear that it could have been simply one of those days for the Lilywhites.

But Harry Kane popped up with the winner on 59 minutes as Tottenham somehow only managed victory by a one-goal margin.

It would have been easy for Spurs to panic during the break, having lost 2-1 to Monaco in the Champions League a few days previous, but Son, who was magnificent throughout, says that staying cool and calm was key to the three points.

“We spoke at half-time and said to keep calm because we’d get more chances,” he revealed to Spurs’ website. “In football, you get 90 minutes to score and in the end, Harry was there and we were all delighted.”

As a result of the win, Tottenham remain unbeaten from five Premier League outings, with Spurs third in the table, four points behind high-flying Manchester City.
