Erik Lamela has wished Son Heung-min ‘good luck’ on his Instagram as the Tottenham forward dons a face mask in training for South Korea ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

The Tottenham forward suffered a facial injury during Tottenham’s Champions League win against Marseille at the start of the month.

There was a small scare that the 30-year-old could be ruled out of the World Cup, but it remained a mere scare to the delight of the player and his fans.

He didn’t appear for Antonio Conte’s side for the remaining games after Spurs progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

But he is back on the training pitch just in time to represent his country on the biggest stage of them all.

Son posted on his IG ‘World Cup… Let’s goooo!’, which was accompanied by pictures of him in his newly-worn mask and his former teammate, Erik Lamela, posted in the comments section ‘Good luck, bro’.

SON AT THE WORLD CUP

Last season, the all-action forward produced the best season of his career as he won the Premier League’s Golden Boot for his 23 goals.

It hasn’t gone as planned for him during this campaign, but perhaps the World Cup will light up his form again.

South Korea are probably in one of the more entertaining groups of the competition – Portugal, Ghana and Uruguay, so expect fireworks, especially when a certain Luis Suarez re-unites with Ghana.
