The South Korean goes from strength to strength for Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to BT Sport, Son Heung-min has reflected on his red-hot Tottenham Hotspur form.
Son was the hero for Tottenham yet again on Tuesday as his second-half winner gave Spurs a 1-0 Champions League win over CSKA Moscow in Russia.
It was the Lilywhites’ first win in this season’s edition of the competition, after losing their Group E opener 2-1 to Monaco at Wembley a fortnight ago.
The goal comes a matter of days after the South Korean struck twice in Spurs’ 2-1 victory away to Middlesbrough on Saturday, bringing his record to four in three Premier League games so far this season.
His second at The Riverside was a top-corner stunner from outside the box, which the 24-year-old later admitted he was “shocked” to have seen it go in.
And Son was as humble as ever speaking to BT Sport last night as he played down his own form by suggesting he was simply “lucky”, while noting his team-mates’ contribtion to his goalscoring heroics as of late.
“It is a difficult game away. We played Saturday and travelled Monday. We worked hard over the 90 minutes,” he said.
“I am very grateful to my teammates. This is a good time but also a lucky time. I try every game to score. We are very happy to win this game.”
The comments paint a picture as to what Son is like as a human being and it is no wonder why he is such a popular figure at Tottenham – among his team-mates and fans.
There is a bit more to his form than simple luck, because what is lucky about scoring five times in five starts this season? But perhaps it is beneficial for player and club if Son continues to play down his own role.
