Should Son Heung-Min be limited to a cameo role for Tottenham Hotspur going forward?

Son Hueng-Min was widely criticised for his performance in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The South Korean started the victory but despite claiming an assist for Christian Eriksen’s winner on 47 minutes, Son struggled to justify manager Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to play him from the beginning.

It was a typically insipid performance from a man who simply isn’t as effective from the start of a game as he is off the bench and Saturday’s showing was yet another reminder of this.
Son is a far bigger attacking threat when Pochettino introduces him as an impact substitution and the Argentine should consider restricting him to that role.
Nine of his 14 Premier League goals for Spurs have come in the second half – and five of those came in the last 15 minutes.

As Saturday proved, the former Bayer Leverkusen man, a £22 million signing in 2015, simply struggles from the beginning.
There are exceptions, like the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund, but for the most part he isn’t as useful and you wonder whether Son will be confined to cameo roles when Danny Rose – a left wing-back option – and winger Erik Lamela return from injury.
