Son Heung-min has told Football London that new Tottenham signing Richarlison has been “unbelievable” in training and welcomes the competition that the Brazil international brings in the final third, after his move from Everton.
Richarlison, 25, was not present on Saturday as Tottenham eased to a 4-1 win over Southampton. That is after being handed a retrospective one-match ban for flowing a flare during Everton’s win over Chelsea last season.
It saw him miss Tottenham’s opening Premier League match but his absence was not felt. Goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier, Dejan Kulusevski and a Mohammed Salisu own goal saw Spurs come from behind, after going 1-0 down.
Asked about competition with ex-Everton and Watford man Richarlison this season, Son spoke of how the Brazilian is impressing many in training. He also discussed how he welcomes the competition with Richarlison to start.

“It’s always good to have competition. When I train with Richy in the whole pre-season he’s another unbelievable player. Iam really enjoying playing with him so the competition always makes you better,” Son told Football London.
Son: Richarlison ‘unbelievable’ in Tottenham training
It is a massive signing for Tottenham – even if he does not initially start. Kulusevski’s goal and assist from the right flank against the Saints saw the Swede put down an early marker to show Antonio Conte why he should start.
But there are plenty of games throughout the season and the duo will surely rotate. Indeed, it is clear that Richarlison has been shining in training – which at the moment, is all he can do. He is likely to start on the bench against Chelsea.
However, he is sure to make his competitive debut for the North Londoners, from the bench. For Son, he can be rest assured that he is one of the first names on the team sheet. Certainly, Richarlison will only be starting from the right.
