Tottenham Hotspur kept their slim Premier League title hopes with a win away at Swansea.

Tottenham forward Son Heung-Min has told the club’s official website that his friendship with Kevin Wimmer prompted his celebration during Spurs’ dramatic victory over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went into the final minutes of their game against the Swans 1-0 down following a goal from Wayne Routledge, and while Dele Alli’s equaliser in the 88th minute would have seen them earn a point, Chelsea’s victory meant that the title race would have virtually been over had Tottenham not found another goal.

Unsurprisingly therefore, Son’s goal in the 91st minute led to wild scenes amongst the Spurs team, and the South Korean has explained why he felt compelled to find Wimmer.

“After, I ran to Kevin [Wimmer, on the bench] because he’s my best friend and he keeps fighting. That’s why I wanted to do it. It’s nice to have a friend like him, working with him every day,” he told the club’s official website.

Tottenham would wrap the game up just a few minutes later with Christian Eriksen scoring the away side’s third to secure the three points, and while the victory may have perhaps come too late for the title this term, it highlighted the incredible team spirit within the Spurs team.

Struggling striker Vincent Janssen received plenty of plaudits for his display, while Son clearly did not forget to include Wimmer in the celebrations despite his lack of first-team action at White Hart Lane this term.

Therefore, the longer Pochettino can keep this group together – perhaps with a couple of additions – the more likely it surely is that Spurs will be the ones being chased in the title race going into the final handful of games at some stage in the future.
