Harry Kane is already one of the world’s best players, but he could get even better if Tottenham sign Jonathan Bamba.
How do you improve on a season where you’ve contributed to 43 goals in 40 appearances? It’s almost impossible to imagine it, but if Spurs complete the signing of Bamba, Kane may get even better.
All season long, Kane has been thriving off of the partnership he’s formed with Son-Heung Min, but if Bamba came in, he could form another prolific partnership in north London.
Bamba, much like Son, is a wide player who can score just as well as he can assist, netting 13 Ligue 1 goals last season, while providing nine league assists so far this term, and if he can bring those sorts of numbers to Tottenham, Kane could get even better.
Bamba’s numbers speak for themselves, but he’s got more about his game than just end product, with Jean-Louis Gasset’s previous comments telling you all you need to know about him.
“I think he’s very good,” his former manager said about him.
“He still misses a few things. He’s very brave. He’s a worker. If I had to give advice to him, it would be to stay here. He can flourish here.”
A hard-worker who is brave sounds like the perfect player for a Jose Mourinho team, and his underlying numbers show that he may be able to help Kane move up a gear.
Indeed, Bamba crosses 1.1 times per game, which is more than any other Spurs player has done this season, and with Kane being so brilliant at getting into the right positions and being such an aerial threat these days, that will certainly play into the striker’s hands.
Meanwhile, the Frenchman’s immense pace and dribbling skills are enough to stretch any defence, which will of course, allow Kane to find spaces to collect the ball or even pass into when he drops deeper to act as Spurs’ playmaker.
We already know how good Kane is with Son, but the idea of Bamba joining Spurs to form a potent attacking trio with the Korean and the England captain is mouth-watering.
We’re not saying he’s going to be the same as Son, but Bamba could certainly be another excellent foil for Kane if he joins Spurs this summer.
