The mystery surrounding Liverpool midfielder Thiago got a little deeper on Saturday.

There appeared to be good news about the 29-year-old last week when he was photographed at the club’s Axa Training Centre, dressed in the Reds’ gear.

But he wasn’t included in Liverpool’s squad for the draw at Brighton yesterday and manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed afterwards that he won’t be available for their next two games either.

Thiago hasn’t kicked a ball for the Premier League champions since that Richarlison tackle in the draw with Everton back in October, which was only his second appearance for the club following a move from Bayern Munich in September.

Given that Thiago to Liverpool was the transfer saga of the summer, fans of the Anfield club are desperate to see him as much as possible this season – and as soon as possible.

But some supporters seem pessimistic over the prognosis of his unspecified injury. Here’s how some reacted to Klopp’s comments yesterday:

He definitely isn’t out for the season, as some fans have speculated.

We know this because he was indeed in the building for training last week and, more importantly, he was dressed for training.

Virgil van Dijk is out for the season and he won’t be sporting Liverpool’s training gear anytime soon, but there certainly is a bit of confusion as to when Thiago will be back and you can’t blame supporters for their concern.
