Jamie Carragher told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports that ‘something wasn’t quite right’ with Leeds United’s pitch after Patrick Bamford’s comments

After Leeds secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, Bamford told Sky Sports that he had to change his studs at half-time because of the difficulties of playing on the newly-laid Elland Road turf.

In January, Leeds invested in a new short-term pitch after their previous surface became near-on unplayable.

But the new surface has seemingly had its troubles, as Carragher shared his thoughts on the matter.

“He has just been furloughed,” Carragher joked about the groundsman after listening to Bamford’s comments on the pitch.

“I watched the game Everton-Leeds and I never watched so many players slip, especially Leeds players.

“The number of players that were slipping over in midweek, it wasn’t as noticeable in this game, but you could see that something wasn’t quite right.”

Well, Rugby studs might be the way forward because it helped Bamford in scoring in the second half.

This clearly will be an issue for all players until the season ends, and in truth, groundsman across the country didn’t have the recent summer to properly sort out their surfaces.

Usually, it’s the perfect time to make changes if need be, but because the season had to drag on until July, many things, including the pitches, have been affected.
