Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota has revealed that he can’t wait to experience Anfield when fans are permitted to re-enter the stadium again.
The Portuguese joined the Reds this past summer for £45 million and has already proven himself a massive hit under Jurgen Klopp.
So far, Jota has netted nine goals in eight starts across all competitions for Liverpool.
There’s no doubt that the supporters of the Premier League champions will let the player know exactly how much he is adored once they’re allowed back in the ground.
Some two thousand of them will be back at Anfield on Sunday for the visit of Wolves – the first time in 271 days that Liverpool will play in front of their own fans.
And here’s what Jota said to Sky Sports about the occasion: “Football without fans is strange. Obviously when you play for a club like Liverpool that has one of the best atmospheres in the world, it just feels like something is missing.
“We have a lot of these conversations with the staff and even with the players [on] the things I am missing. Feeling the Anfield effect is the thing I’m looking forward [to] most.”
The atmosphere won’t be what it once was, due to the severely limited attendance, but it should still spur Liverpool on against Jota’s former club.
