West Ham United supporters were impressed by Arthur Masuaku’s performance during their goalless draw against Burnley on Sunday.

It wasn’t the most memorable of games at Turf Moor, but both teams played out a stalemate after lacking that cutting edge in the final third.

Whilst the Hammers didn’t have their shooting boots on against Burnley, they remained solid at the back and secured their first clean sheet in the Premier League since beating Spurs in October.

Masuaku isn’t someone who earns regular starts in the Premier League, but his own fans were pleasantly surprised by what they saw from him yesterday.

From a defensive standpoint, they felt that the 28-year-old remained composed and won his defensive battles out on the left.

With the games coming thick and fast, it will be interesting if he keeps his place in the XI during this busy festive period.

West Ham take on Arsenal on Wednesday, and if Aaron Cresswell returns, then he could replace Masuaku in the XI – although, some will question whether he should keep his place.

It’s a big game in the race for the Champions League places because David Moyes’ side, who are two points ahead of sixth-placed Arsenal in the table, can open a game between the two sides.

Or find themselves losing that fourth spot and possibly, both Arsenal and Manchester United, overtaking them.
