Steve Nicol has claimed the rumours that Liverpool have put Mo Salah on sale and Real Madrid are interested as ‘rubbish’, as he told ESPN.

The Anfield legend added ‘someone is on the wind-up’, as he made it clear that Liverpool won’t allow, both Salah and Sadio Mane, to leave during the same transfer window.

Both Mane and Salah’s contracts had 12 months to run on Merseyside, with the former now at Bayern Munich after he wanted to start a new chapter in his footballing career.

Could the same happen to Salah because nothing has been agreed upon regarding a new deal? It needs to be remembered that the player himself has made it clear that he will be at the club next season.

Either way, when Nicol was told about the latest Salah transfer rumours, he simply was having none of it and made his feelings pretty clear.

“I would love to know, who comes up with this rubbish?” asked Nicol. “Seriously! Salah has already said ‘I am staying’. Liverpool have just let Mane go.

“Do you think they are going to let Salah go and then go to Real Madrid? Not a chance. Somebody is on the wind-up here. It’s not happening.

“I am certain. What club in their right mind lets Mane go and then lets Salah go as well? Sometimes I just think the things that come out are just rubbish. I think this is rubbish. It makes no sense.”

LIVERPOOL WON’T SELL BOTH SALAH AND MANE

Yes, Mane is now gone and he is no longer a Liverpool player, but there’s no way they both leave during the same transfer window.

The Reds have got a lot of things right over the years, including how they conduct transfer business, both incomings and outgoings.

In the end, how the Mane situation panned out, they did well to get a healthy transfer fee for the player, and before his exit could be confirmed, bring in Benfica striker, Darwin Nunez.

This isn’t a case of Salah won’t leave, or won’t even end up at Real Madrid, but if it does happen, then it will probably all happen next summer for the £34 million signing.
