Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been discussing the idea that Tottenham Hotspur could soon have new owners.

It certainly is takeover season in the Premier League. Chelsea have just been bought by Todd Boehly, while Liverpool and Manchester United are now on the market.

With three of the big six undergoing changes at boardroom level, there have been questions about Spurs potentially being sold after over 20 years of ENIC ownership.

According to Gold, there are currently no plans to sell Spurs, but people within the club do recognise that the club’s value is at a premium right now due to their Champions League status and the fact that Antonio Conte is currently their manager.

Spurs at peak value

Gold shared what he knows about the prospect of Tottenham being sold.

“Will Spurs get sold soon? It’s an interesting one isn’t it with so many clubs available. Liverpool and Man U are both available and I wonder how that effects the market for Spurs.

“Does it drive the price up that Spurs can ask for. Is there a scenario where unsuccessful bidders for Liverpool and United turn to Spurs and put in a big bid. It will be interesting to see.

“From everything they keep saying the intention isn’t to sell Spurs right now, but if you get a big bid. Someone told me that this period of the next year would be when Spurs are ‘the plumpest bird’ to have a piece of. Back in the Champions League, stadium at capacity, churning out money, they have Conte. In terms of being something to sell it’s at a premium value right now.”

Sell now

The golden rule of business is to buy low and sell high, and logic would suggest that now is the right time to sell Spurs.

With Liverpool, United and Chelsea all soon to be under new, potentially mega rich, ownership, the Premier League is about to become a lot more competitive, and the second that Spurs drop out of the Champions League, their value drops.

Right now, as Gold says, Spurs’ value is at its peak, and selling the club at this moment in time would make the world of sense from a purely business perspective.
