Speaking on the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily Podcast, Clinton Morrison has urged a Premier League club to take a chance on Tottenham-linked Leonardo Spinazzola.
Italy have been fantastic at Euro 2020 so far, and Spinazzola has been one of the Azzuri’s better players, bombing on from left-back acting as a true attacking threat.
Spurs have been linked with a move for the full-back, and Morrison believes that he’d be fantastic in the Premier League.
What’s been said?
Morrison has claimed that Spinazzola would be brilliant in the Premier League and that somebody should sign him.
“I think I’m pronouncing it right. Spinazzola, the Italian left-back. Now I’ve been really impressed with him. He plays at Roma? Is that right? Well, I’m going to tell you now the way he plays, he’s not going to be playing at Roma, because Jose is not going to let him get forward as much as he has done for Italy, so he’s going to get a move to the Premier League and someone should sign him,” Morrison said.
Perfect for Nuno
If reports are to be believed, Spurs could be the team to sign Spinazzola this summer, and you’d have to imagine that he’d be perfect for the north London club.
Indeed, with Nuno Espirito Santo in charge there’s room for an attacking wing-back down the left, and Spinazzola certainly fits that bill.
Of course, for Spurs to do business with Roma may be difficult, especially considering that they’d be dealing with Jose Mourinho, who is of course their former manager, so this may be a deal that is tough to negotiate.
However, as Morrison says, it could be one that’s worth it.
