Former Inter Milan star Antonio Paganin would like to see the Serie A champions rescue Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

First it was Mesut Ozil. Then Matteo Guendouzi. Now, Aubameyang is the latest victim of Mikel Arteta’s drive for discipline at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gabonese superstar has been persona non grata in North London since what Arsenal described as ‘latest disciplinary breach’ in early December.

And, say what you want about Arteta, no one could accuse the Gunners boss of failing to stick to his guns.

Arteta is determined to instil a rock-solid team-spirit at Arsenal.

And anyone who toes the line of acceptability – a line Aubameyang has strayed across with reckless ambition on numerous occasions – will feel the manager’s wrath.

According to The Athletic, the £55 million striker faces an uncertain future following his return from the African Cup of Nations.

Due to a lack of takers – Aubameyang is not keen on a move to the Middle East and even PSG cannot afford his £350,000-a-week wages – perhaps Arteta will be tempted to integrate him back into the first-team picture.

Does Aubameyang have a future under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal?

Antonio Paganin, a two-time UEFA Cup winner with Inter in the 1990s, would love to see the former AC Milan youngster return to Italy.

But if PSG can’t afford Aubameyang, neither can an Inter side yet to put those well-documented financial problems behind them.

“For January I think someone is coming up front,” predicts Paganin. “(Edin) Dzeko is doing very well but the regression (from Romelu Lukaku) is clear.

Inter are keen on Sassuolo’s barrel-chested targetman, the £35 million-rated Gianluca Scamacca.

Paganin would rather see a more experienced forward arrive, one with a proven track record at the very highest level.

“I don’t think Scamacca is ready yet for a great team. If I had to think of someone, I think of Aubameyang. A player I wouldn’t mind seeing at Inter,” he says.
