Chris Sutton told 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that he has been told it’s ‘likely’ Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson will be fit before the season draws to a close.

England manager, Gareth Southgate, expressed worry that Liverpool’s midfield general is facing a race against time to be fit for the Euros, as he told Sky Sports.

With the international fixtures currently keeping supporters ticking by before the COVID-hit domestic season enters its final lap, both Sutton and Robbie Savage were discussing how England can set-up in midfield for the Euros.

And Savage asked Sutton whether Henderson will be available: “Is Henderson going to be fit, Chris?”

The former Premier League title-winner responded by saying: “I think he is. Somebody told me over the weekend that he was likely to be fit.”

Liverpool need Henderson more than England do and if he isn’t fit for the final months of the season then it will be a big blow to Jurgen Klopp.

The Premier League champions are well aware that they won’t be retaining their crown, but they have to eek every bit of positive out of this injury-hit season.

One way to do that is to ensure that they finish in the top four because, at this moment in time, they might have to settle for Thursday night’s next season.
