Some Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that the club could be about to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal.

According to The Guardian, Wolves are interested in securing the services of Maitland-Niles from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that the Wanderers are in talks with the Gunners and are closing in on a £20 million transfer deal.

Wolves are expected to beat Newcastle United to the signature of the 22-year-old and will sign him on a four-year contract, according to the report.

Maitland-Niles came through the Arsenal youth system and has established himself in the first-team squad.

The Englishman – who can play as a midfielder, winger, full-back or wing-back – made 15 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal this past season, providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

The 22-year-old also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Europa League, and played once in the EFL Cup and five times in the FA Cup for the Gunners in 2019-20, according to WhoScored.
