Drinkwater joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals Leicester in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £35 million.
The former Manchester United prospect struggled to play regularly for the Blues last season, as he was able to made only five starts and just seven substitute appearances in the Premier League, according to WhoScored.
