West Ham fans on Twitter aren’t too pleased with the rumours that they want to sign Mario Gotze on a free-transfer.
The Daily Express have claimed that the Hammers have been in contact with the attacking-midfielder, who left Dortmund in July.
The 28-year-old’s career hasn’t reached the heights many expected they would after he helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup by netting the only goal in the final.
Since then, he has played for Bayern, where he completely stagnated, and a return to Dortmund has seen him struggle to find his feet once more.
Whilst David Moyes has an array of attacking players on his book, he does need to freshen it up because many of his players struggled in the attacking third last season.
Moving for Gotze would be a big risk because of how he has performed in recent years and the injury troubles he had to endure.

A selection of West Ham fans made it clear that they don’t want the player despite Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who helped bring him through at Dortmund, describing him as an ‘exceptional’ talent back in June, as quoted by Goal.
It’s quite clear that the Hammers, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, need to trim their squad and with it secure more quality. But maybe Gotze isn’t the answer they are looking for.
Here is a selection of West Ham fans on Twitter reacting to those Gotze rumours:
