Some West Ham United fans on Twitter have reacted to Issa Diop’s debut performance for the Irons.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side slumped to a shock 3-2 defeat by Swiss minnows FC Winterthur on their pre-season tour yesterday afternoon.
Andy Carroll and Mark Noble scored in both halves for West Ham, but the real story of the day was the inclusion of the Hammers’ all-time record signing.
Diop, a club-record £22 million addition [The Daily Mail], played the second 45 minutes and enjoyed a solid if unspectacular bow for the East Londoners.

Angelo Ogbonna made headlines for the wrong reasons, committing a defensive howler which allowed the hosts to go 3-1 ahead, and it will be interesting to see who Pellegrini chooses as Diop’s main centre-back partner for the 2018-19 campaign.
Fortunately, the Chilean coach has plenty of choice, with Winston Reid and exciting youngster Declan Rice also available to the former Manchester City boss.
One thing is for certain, Diop is the main man and West Ham fans will be desperate to see him prove as much on bigger occasions.
