Some West Ham United fans have reacted to Angelo Ogbonna’s performance today – but not positively.

The 30-year-old started alongside new signing Fabian Balbuena at the heart of West Ham’s defence as Manuel Pellegrini’s side beat Ipswich Town 2-1 in a pre-season friendly.

However, the Italy international did not acquit himself well and did not look all that solid alongside Balbuena, who joined the Irons this summer.

Here is how some West Ham fans reacted to Ogbonna’s showing.

Ogbonna, who earns £70,000 per week in East London [Spotrac], didn’t choose a great time to have a poor game, when you consider that Pellegrini reportedly wants another central defender this summer.

The Chilean has already seen a bid rejected for Newcastle’s Jamaal Lascelles [Sky Sports] and that alone should worry the Italian centre-back.

Issa Diop and Balbuena will most probably start in West Ham’s defence for their Premier League curtain raiser at Liverpool on August 12, with the Paraguayan looking brilliant today on an individual level.

But the Irons still have two more friendlies – against Mainz and Angers – before the trip to Anfield, so Ogbonna could turn it around.
