West Ham United fans have heaped praise on Alphonse Areola for his outstanding debut performance on Wednesday night.
The Hammers knocked Manchester United out of the League Cup, with a deserved 1-0 and Areola securing a clean sheet on debut.
It was a well-rounded performance from West Ham, who looked a threat from the off and when Manchester United came at them, Areola kept them at bay and the whole team kept their cool.
Days after the heartache of losing the Premier League encounter 2-1, it was a stunning display from the men in Claret and Blue.
And the West Ham supporters were seriously impressed with what they saw from their summer signing.
Lukasz Fabianski is the man who usually dons the number one goalkeeping gloves, but some feel it’s now time for Areola to take charge.
Even when the Frenchman joined the club, fans were calling for him to dethrone Fabianski straightaway.
But Moyes has clearly been patient with the situation.
And now that has passed, with Areola proving what he is all about last night, West Ham fans think the main gloves should be handed over to their new signing.
West Ham face-off against Leeds at the weekend, and given that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are an all-action team, then they are going to need their defence and goalkeeper to be at their very best because they will be tested.
