West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after England posted footage of Declan Rice arriving for international duty.

What’s the story?

Well, the behind-the-scenes video shows Rice arriving at St George’s Park.

The West Ham No.41 can be seen reading a wall of messages sent in from children, to thank the players for their efforts at EURO 2020.

Speaking to the man behind the camera, Rice revealed that people have approached him in the street to express their gratitude for England’s exciting EURO 2020 campaign.

Then, the 22-year-old claims that even Millwall fans have thanked him, which speaks volumes given the rivalry between West Ham and the Lions.

If anything, that just goes to show how much the Three Lions lifted the nation during EURO 2020, at a time where the country’s morale was in the gutter.

This isn’t exactly groundbreaking news, but West Ham have a complete and utter gem in Rice.

The 24-cap England international’s positivity is infectious, and he speaks so well that it’s very, very easy to forget how young he actually is.

For him to be captain of West Ham and starting for England at this age is special – his potential should not be understated.

In two or three years, the Hammers could very easily have Europe’s best defensive midfielder on their hands.

Just by watching England’s behind-the-scenes clip, you can tell he oozes confidence, and is a good person to be around in general.

With Rice captaining the side, West Ham are in excellent hands.
